Enjoy walking the Smoke & Davey Trail System

Smoke & Davey Trail System

Length: 4.8 miles (Backbone, Whispering Pine, Copperhead Ridge)
Tucked along Smithville Lake’s western shore, this linked network is a favorite for hikers and trail runners.

  • Backbone Trail hugs the shoreline with water views and wooded stretches.
  • Whispering Pine winds through cedar forests and offers quiet bird-watching.
  • Copperhead Ridge delivers ridge-line views and a covered rest shelter.

Camp Branch Trail System

Length: 10.4 miles
This extensive loop near Smithville Lake’s east side is perfect for longer outings.

  • Bonebender Trail runs 6 miles of rolling lakefront terrain, popular with mountain bikers.
  • Campground Trail circles campsites, great for families on a short stroll.
  • Eagle’s View Trail climbs to a ridge with sweeping views of the lake.

Crows Creek Trail System

Length: 8.9 miles
Starting at Crows Creek Campground, this system includes:

  • Anita B. Gorman Trail — a 1.9-mile shoreline path with picnic spots and shade.
  • Cabin Fever Trail — a 7-mile trek with lake vistas, great for full-day hikes.

Little Platte North & South Trails

North Trail (2.5 miles): Ridge-top hiking with wildflower meadows in spring.


South Trail (5.5 miles): Connects Paradise Pointe Marina to picnic and swim areas — perfect for pairing a hike with a lake day.

Line Creek Trail

Length: 8.25 miles (paved, multi-use)
Running through the heart of Kansas City North, Line Creek Trail is one of the region’s most popular urban trails. This wide, paved path follows the tree-lined banks of Line Creek and links neighborhoods, schools, and parks.

  • Perfect for cyclists, runners, strollers, and wheelchair users.
  • Passes playgrounds, sports fields, and shaded picnic areas.
  • Connects directly to the Line Creek Community Center & Ice Arena and Line Creek Park.
  • Expanding connections: the trail is part of a broader network that will eventually link to the Missouri Riverfront Heritage Trail and other metro routes.

Equestrian Trails —
Over 25 miles of dedicated horse trails around Smithville Lake, with trailer parking and staging areas.

Wide asphalt paths (many 10 feet across) make it easy for strollers, wheelchairs, and family rides.
